I’ve got to tell you that Pearson and Sassy are comfortable in our timber frame. Timber frames provide shelter, not only for mere humans, but for higher life forms (dogs and cats), too.
Sassy is an older cat and hasn’t ventured onto the beams, but I know of cats who regularly stalk across the beams, from post to post. Pearson, who rescued us several years ago, is content to lay at the top of the stairs (especially if one of us is upstairs and one downstairs) and gaze upon his domain.
We, of course, have distressed floors. The floors are a natural in a timber frame home and even more natural with animals running the show.
So, for now, our timber frame is guarded over by these not too wild beasts. Soon spring will be here and they’ll spend some time outside, guarding the grounds.
We’ve never felt safer.
